THE FAT BLOCKER EXERCISE PROGRAM: THE BEST KIND OF EXERCISE AND WOGGING

The best kind of exercise is the one that you’ll do. So pick a form of exercise (or a combination of several) and establish a regular routine that will fit into your lifestyle. But remember: Take it easy, especially if you haven’t exercised in a while. Many, many people start out with boundless enthusiasm, doing too much too fast. Pushing too hard right from the start, they quickly become injured, exhausted, or just plain burned out.

Now that you know what exercise can do for you and what makes up a good exercise program, let’s take a look at some of the different forms of exercise that might be right for you.

Wogging-is my term for the combination of two of the best heart-strengthening exercises ever—walking and jogging. When wogging, walk for a block, then jog for a block. This greatly increases the intensity of the walking workout, as well as its cardiovascular benefits and calorie-burning power. Begin your wogging program with the same warm-ups used for the walking program. And, as I say about every one of my recommendations in this book, take it easy. For instance, in the beginning, you may want to walk 3 blocks and jog 1, gradually working up to a 1-to-l ratio. When you’ve finished your session, always remember to cool down.

Of course, jogging is not for everybody. If you have some physical problem or just don’t like doing it, choose something else. How about horseback riding, or beach volleyball, or playing table tennis flat out against a tough opponent. However, if you do like running, wogging is the perfect way to get in shape at the outset.
